So transfer calls were the other day, but I am staying here in Bernburg. My companion however is going to Hamburg, and I will be getting a new companion who is about 5 months from going home. I have really good news from the work here. We have set up a baptismal date with one of our investigators! She has been meeting with us a lot for the last six weeks. She has been reading in the book of Mormon and praying. Her testimony has grown so much in this short time. She has made sacrifices and has received healing through the atonement of Christ. This quote really struck me.
Our Prophet Joseph Smith taught in the Lectures on Faith that “Let us here observe, that a religion that does not require the sacrifice of all things never has power sufficient to produce the faith necessary unto life and salvation; for, from the first existence of man, the faith necessary unto the enjoyment of life and salvation never could be obtained without the sacrifice of all earthly things. It was through this sacrifice, and this only, that God has ordained that men should enjoy eternal life; and it is through the medium of the sacrifice of all earthly things that men do actually know that they are doing the things that are well pleasing in the sight of God.” (Lectures on Faith, Lecture 6, pg. 57-58)
I can’t share any more this week because of the shortage of time but I want you all to remember that God is with us, and His spirit is with us. He is on our right hand and on our left, and His angels are round about us to lift us up. Do not be afraid to call out for help. Love God and Love His children.
