So things have been pretty crazy this last week, and I am almost out of time to write. Football practice has been going really well, and the kids are getting used to us now. It is honestly one of the best opportunities we have to do service.
Speaking of service, Elder Field and I went out to do some finding the other day. We had about three hours of work time when we headed out the door. On the way to the bus, some people started talking to us from across the street. They asked us if we were Jehovah’s Witnesses, and Elder Field explained to them that we were not Jehovah’s Witnesses, and we weren’t a cult. We got to tell them a little about our beliefs and gave them some mormon.org cards. On the way to the place we had decided to go finding, we decided to get off the bus one stop early. As soon as we got off the bus, we got a call from a new family that is moving into the ward and wants help moving in. About five minutes later as we were walking toward the park we saw some people that seemed to be moving in. Elder Field asked them if they wanted help. They were completely surprised but accepted our help. We helped carry boxes up to the third floor, and afterward they asked us if there was anything they could do for us in return. Elder Field answered that we just wanted five minutes to explain who we were and why we are here and do what we do. They were very interested and kept telling us that people like us just don’t exist. We are going to help them move in the rest of the way next week and hopefully be able to talk to them more about the gospel.
That was honestly one of the coolest experiences I have had on my mission. It just goes to show that when you are obedient, God will help you to do the work.
Love you all,
Elder J Billings
